Suspectibility to illness
The Affenpinscher can be prone to fractures, patent ductus arteriosus, slipped stifle open fontanel and respiratory problems in hot conditions. Consult a vet immediately if in doubt over any health issues with your pet.
History
The Affenspincher is a fun-loving and occasionally mischievous breed, who are very active indoors so most of their needs can be met within the house. An alert and inquisitive nature, coupled with great loyalty and affection toward its master makes an Affenpinscher a great companion. Whilst generally quiet, they can become very excited if threatened or attacked, and are fearless towards any aggressors.
Show Characteristics
The Affenpinscher is a wire-haired dog similar to a terrier and is usually black, but there are also varieties of grey, silver, red, beige or black and tan. They hardly shed their coats and are therefore great in the house as you will rarely have to clean up after them.
